Habitually carrying a camera, Charlotte Alice Martha records what draws her attention: images that resonate with an undefinable intensity, subtle details. Each photograph emerges from an intuitive gesture, an act of noticing.
The works originate from an acute awareness of transience: the scenes are subject to change, what is seen will not remain as it was. In this sense, the series becomes an attempt to hold a moment still, to register a fragment of lived experience as it passes.
The series Ephemera does not seek formal or narrative coherence. The continuity lies in the singularity of Charlotte Alice Martha’s personal reality. Together, the pictures articulate a personal field of perception, fragments of a reality filtered through one person’s sensibility.
Ephemera exists in the background of Dossche’s practice and guides quietly subsequent work.
